Door County

Sturgeon Bay is the doorway to Door County.  Our first stop was the Maritime Museum located on a working waterfront with a focus on the history of shipbuilding.  After the tour we boarded a red Chicago fireboat built in 1937.  We enjoyed a 1 &1/2 hour tour of Sturgeon Bay.

Another way to tour the area...

Door County...if you've been to places like Bar Harbor, the Outerbanks, New Hope, etc....you've been to Door County.  It has scenic roads and waterfronts, cute shops filled with more things to clutter your home, wineries, cherry shops, cafes, antique shops, galleries, fudge, etc.  Martha Stewart would like it here.

Something we have never seen before....

Goats enjoying the grass on the roof of a Scandinavian restaurant - brings in customers!

Ephraim - a waterfront community that shares something with Nancy's hometown of Bethlehem, PA - an early Moravian community

Ephraim has an annual Fyr Bal Celebration - pronounced Fear Ball.  It celebrates the summer solstice.

At night bonfires are lit along the waterfront

  1. I'm sure getting to learn more and more about the USA. Through your eyes I've been enlightened no end. One thing bothers me. Just how long is 11/2 of and hour? Also, is there people where you are traveling? No long lines at the attractions? Sounds like Florida pre-Disney...

How is the weather? Still cold? Stay safe and enjoy...
